Summit Ranch was homesteaded by George Hochderffer some time between 1890 and 1897.  Arizona was encouraging pioneers to stake a claim, build a home, dig a well and to farm or ranch the land for at least five years to acquire ownership.  It's how the west was settled.  We purchased 25 acres of the original homestead in 2013 and vow to not let it further decline on our watch.
